How can someone be so devoid of feelings and morals and, more importantly, how can someone like him be elected by millions of people to run the country?
The period feel has certainly been carefully crafted, as has the music, with some great well chosen tracks lining the walls
Ali Abbasi explores all of these in a highly stylized and emotional picture of a man who had it all and wanted more. The Apprentice follows Donald Trump through a certain era of his career, from his early days to the madness that led to his massive success in the 90s, and most importantly his relationship with lawyer Roy Cohn. First of all I have to say this film is AMAZING, it has style, the grainy vintage 80s/90s feel is so beautifully captured that every frame is full of detail and colours that pop.
The film never feels dead, it always moves forward
The comparisons to films like Wall Street etc are very obvious, but Ali makes it his own. It is a completely charmless and super creepy portrait because it is truly horrifying how someone can be like this. The acting is phenomenal and excellent, especially Sebastian Stan, who gives a scary performance – this is truly the Trump we saw on TV.
Go see it!
If there’s one negative thing I can think of about this movie, it’s that it perhaps doesn’t explore a lot of the relationships in the movie more deeply. Some of the characters in the movie seem a little detached from the narrative, but that doesn’t take away from the beauty of the movie.
