Goldstein eventually spoke to Ford and sold him the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a « Harrison Ford type » and that he intended to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least introduce him to Ford, thinking he would immediately reject him, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was involved in the project, sparking interest from other big-name actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was still elated. From the reviews I’ve read here, it seems like people either like this show or don’t like it at all, and it seems like it might depend on the critics’ reaction to Jason Segal.
The relationships are complex and emotional, and the very real human challenges are well-drawn
I’ve enjoyed his movies and think he’s a great fit for the role, and the addition of Harrison Ford takes the show to an even higher level. The writing is great, the story is fresh, and the characters are original, without falling into overly extravagant stereotypes.
It can be very funny one minute and tearful the next
I was really disappointed after the second episode when I realized I had to wait longer. Highly recommended!
