Scenario
After 20 years of absence, Odysseus decides to return
The king has finally returned home, but much has changed in his kingdom since he left to fight in the Trojan War. It was the third time that Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche appeared together in a film.
They previously worked together in The English Patient and Emily Brontë’s Hurricane Heights
Focusing on immersing the viewer in the multiple pain and suffering of Penelope and Odysseus as Odysseus returns home to Ithaca, this discussion systematically explores the challenges faced by many soldiers. They face returning from active duty, including PTSD and other mental health problems, reintegration into their former lives with family and society, flashbacks of pain suffered and endured, and resulting irreversible internal change.
and without mutual support
The return is fueled by an excellent choice of actors so that the viewer can experience this roller coaster ride where the two main characters travel to significant heights, thanks to the unique and special perseverance of the latter Penelope and Odysseus during this difficult period of their lives. In fact, the two are quite distant during much of the build-up, which only makes the catharsis all the more intense in the otherwise slow-burning, slow-burning, thriller-heavy later part of the film.
for those who are English the patient’s memory is vivid
Fiennes brings a unique style of depiction of suffering to this work – a great extension of his amazing skills in The Spider and The End of the Pain and Agony Affair. Binoche is the perfect choice for Penelope, as the viewer can be somewhat tricked into feeling and hoping that the two will meet again, in the same way they were close in The English Patient, and Pasolini takes advantage of this to add tension to this work.
This is a great and very relevant piece of experience!
